50 States- Fear and Trepidation

A friend asked the Little Woman what she feared most about the upcoming trip. You would think crashing would be both our greatest fear. And during the Soputhwest Swing, I sat in  a hot tub with a bunch of campers as they exchanged horror stories  of black ice, snow and sleet in the summer months. When I told them about our upcoming trip, they switched gears to motorcycle crashes.

Southwest Swing Day 10

The last day and the Little Woman and I got up and pretended we weren't Jonesing to get on the road and head home. After breakfast we agreed to fold up our tent (literally) and head out on the highway, looking for adventure, whatever comes our way.

The Bike and Trailer Together at Last

What a saga, from buying the ’10 Gold Wing in early November in Ames Iowa, struggling through snowstorms to get it to Las Vegas, then getting it set up for the trip. But (drumroll please), the bike and trailer are ready! Well, almost, except for one big surprise.

Green Valley Motorcycle

As I stated in my ‘Apple Rave’ posting last week, it’s the setbacks and screwups that separate the vendors from the great vendors.  And Mike Klein of Green Valley Motorcycles screwed up.

Gold Wing Trailer Hitch

“Only John Deere replacement parts fit and wear like the originals.” Way back when I owned JD equipment, this appeared on every part bag, a warning not to sell our soul for a cheap replacement part that wasn’t quite up to snuff.

Arm Rest Project Completion

Assembling new components on a scratch free bike is daunting, and takes great patience. I'm used to working on dirt bikes, loaded with scratches and dirt (hence the name, 'dirt bike').

Gold Wing Project

I pushed and squeezed, twisted and muttered. The bolt needed to be a sixteenth of an inch longer. Welcome to my project, installing armrests (including cup holder) on the new Wing. The frightening part? Drilling holes in the perfect finish of the bike. Also, the dreaded specter of the project becoming a Project.

Travel- The Details

Where's the best place to go in Maine? Tennessee? As The Little Woman and I plan this trip, we studied a plethora of books from others who have traveled before us. After talking about it for weeks, we finally sat down, compared notes, and started a spreadsheet. (Gotta love those spreadsheets!)

50 States Last Supper and Moving
Wednesday, 25 April 2012 20:24

Last night our good friends Keith and Melody had us over for the Last Supper. And brace yourself: She took our plants. Incredible. Those plants will actually live and perhaps even thrive.  While the plants live under our care, it can’t be credited with much more than survival. I think the plants got a much better deal than the dog. I just hope none of the plants try to blog. Too weird.
